Maskani Ya Taifa is an iterative online-offline, issue-based, and agenda-setting advocacy platform. The programme utilises citizen hubs and technology to mobilise citizens to engage on key national and local issues and to participate meaningfully in their own governance. By harnessing digital tools and a strong online presence, Maskani Ya Taifa works to disrupt and replace harmful narratives that undermine political participation, social cohesion, and civic engagement.
Rooted in our belief that governance must be people-driven, Maskani Ya Taifa creates safe, inclusive spaces, both physical and virtual, where citizens can connect, learn, and take action. It transforms ordinary conversations into collective civic action, amplifying citizen voices and building a stronger culture of accountability and dignity across Kenya.
Citizen Hubs
Over the past decade, we have built and strengthened a vibrant network of citizen hubs across Kenya, including in universities and community centres, that serve as spaces for dialogue, learning, and civic action. These hubs empower citizens, particularly youth, women, and persons with disabilities, to identify issues affecting their communities, develop solutions, and lead campaigns that connect online advocacy with real-world impact.
Digital Platforms
Through research, storytelling, and data-driven advocacy, Maskani Ya Taifa drives civic narratives in Kenya’s digital space by fostering dialogue, accountability, and citizen oversight. Its dynamic online platforms use multimedia content and campaigns to challenge divisive narratives, amplify citizen voices, and inspire Kenyans to reimagine governance grounded in truth, justice, and Utu.

Maskani Ya Taifa turns dialogue into action by strengthening and protecting spaces for civic engagement where individuals, networks, and organisations collaborate in pursuit of justice and accountability. Working closely with civil society and civic actors, it builds partnerships and coalitions that amplify citizen voices and advance collective advocacy at local, national, and international levels.
